The new school year is rapidly approaching, and just like last year, our children’s health and safety are everyone’s focus.
As students go back to school, it is important that they are up to date on their immunizations, eat healthy, stay active, and have an open line of communication with a safe and trusted adult. Please check out the Health & Safety checklist from PCSD's Health Services Coordinator. For more information visit: https://www.putnamschools.org/page/health-services
Send your student back to school prepared and ready to learn!

In June, a group of eight high school students from Putnam County toured Washington, D.C. to learn about the nation’s history and their civic responsibilities. The students also toured New York City where they visited the financial district, the Statue of Liberty, and the 911 Memorial. They also saw the Broadway show “New York, New York.” The trip was sponsored by the Migrant Education and the English Language Learners programs of the Putnam County School District.

PCSD's Federal Programs Title III ESOL program received a $10,000 grant to support our English Language Learners with language acquisition. Our school district serves almost 700 ELL students out of our 10,000 student population. This allowed us to purchase iPads and cases to support our newcomer ELL students in the classroom. Our students use these iPads to communicate with classmates and their teachers as they work toward language proficiency. Communicating with peers and their teachers can be a real barrier but with the students having the IPADs they are able to communicate effectively and be actively engaged in their learning. We are so grateful for United Way-SJC Strategic funds.
